Captain Chris Wells is a full-time, year-round professional fly fishing guide and the owner of Mile High Angler and Tailing Charters. He is also the Colorado fly fishing Ranch Manager at The North Fork Meadows, a pristine stretch of private water on the North Fork of the South Platte.
As a native of Colorado, Capt. Chris started fly fishing around the age of five with his father. Together, they spent countless hours fishing the Colorado River and the South Platte. Capt. Chris Wells started guiding for trout while attending college at The Metropolitan State University of Denver where he earned degrees in Communications and in Business Management.
Since then, Capt. Chris Wells has been guiding full-time for the past twenty years. He now splits his year between the world-class rivers of Colorado and the legendary flats of the lower Florida Keys. Capt. Chris Wells is a certified U.S. Coast Guard Captain and guides the Lower Florida Keys in the Winter and Spring, from March through June.
In the Florida Keys, Captain Chris Wells fishes for tarpon, bonefish and permit, however, his specialty is guiding fly anglers to the ultimate catch...a tarpon on fly! Tarpon fishing has consumed his every thought since the first time he hooked one at the young age of 18. Since then, he has had a passion for, or as others would describe it, an obsession for fly fishing for tarpon.
Captain Chris Wells spends the remainder of the year guiding anglers on the world-class rivers of Colorado from July through February.
